Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do. My name is Lucas and I am Jerry’s host body. I write songs using synthesizers, drum machines, and the occasional guitar.

What are some recent, upcoming or current projects you are working on? In February, Patient Sounds put out my first LP called Feels Emotions. It’s a very intense album for me, one that I can’t really listen to anymore because it is a distillation of a time in my life of profound heartbreak, of losing my best friend and simultaneously letting myself have the freedom to be the fool that I am. Jerry is, after all, a caricature of me.

At the end of April, Hausu Mountain put out a split tape I did with my friend Andy Boay. His side is called Turn of the Century and my side is called The Now Sound For Today’s Lovers. My side is also very personal, but captures myself falling back in love with my best friend. In fact, the first song in the collection, “Funny Girl,” is actually partially responsible for the rekindling of my relationship.

At the end of July, Orange Milk Records will release my second LP. It is a sonic riddle. I won’t say more.

Tell us a joke. “Reality, man.”

What kinds of music/what musicians are influencing your work right now? Cannot stop listening to/worshipping Prefab Sprout, Scritti Politti, YMO, and Thomas Leer. I am so in awe of those who can seamlessly blend pop romanticism with the unexpected and out-there. I feel a deep kinship with this music, not as if I’m on the same level or anything but just that even before I heard this music this is what I would strive for. All I really want to do is write a pop song that will give you an Experience and I feel these sounds are the apex of that, at least in my universe.

What’s your favorite thing about your city? Tonstartssbandht & Jen’s Roti Shop on Flatbush Ave.

What is your snack/beverage of choice when recording? When I’m tight on ca$h, peanuts and raisins. When I’m doin’ a-okay, cashews and dried apricots.

What do you do when you’re not working on music? I bus tables at a restaurant and do grunt work for a record label.
