Paloma Wool is about getting dressed and about space or ideas that are created around the act of getting dressed. Proudly made in Barcelona.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do. My name is Paloma Lanna, I was born in the north of Spain, in San Sebastian, a beautiful city. I’ve lived my whole life in Barcelona. I studied business administration, and you could also say I somehow studied fashion at home.

What are some recent, upcoming or current projects you are working on? I’m preparing the items we’ll launch in April. It’s a collection inspired by Matisse.

palomawool_3How did your interest in art or fashion begin? My family has a fashion background that I’ve always been deep into. My Grandmother had a very popular children’s clothes store in San Sebastián. My parents established Globe in the 80s, which was huge and are the founders of Nice Things, the fashion label that I have grown with.

If you had to explain your work or brand to a stranger, what would you say? Paloma Wool is a project on photography, clothing and other experiments made in Barcelona. A project in which my interests in fashion and analogue photography converge, upheld by three fundamental principles: local production, online sales and art.

palomawool_lanzarote_ecru4What artists or designers are you interested in right now? I’ve been looking at a lot of Matisse’s work these days. In photography I’m following the work of Synchrodogs, Tatiana Lëshkina and Erik Hart, and Vivian Sassen. In fashion, Jacquemus, Marni and Études-Studio.

What’s your favorite thing about your city? It may sound typical, but I love to feel the sea near me.

palomawool_doricati2What was the last collection you saw that stuck out to you? Dries Van Noten Spring 2015, everything Josep Font is designing for Delpozo, or pre-Fall’s collection of The Row.

What is your snack/beverage of choice when working in your studio? I like cashews and tea.

What are you really excited about right now? I’m traveling to Tokyo next month, so I’m excited about sushi and taking photos over there!

palomawool_11If you hadn’t become a designer what do you think you’d be doing? I guess I’d be taking photos for other clothing brands. Or I’d be running my own restaurant!

What are you listening to right now? The last album of The War On Drugs.
