DROMe is a luxury leather collection of designer fashion and contemporary garments, made in Italy and found in top stores worldwide. It was founded four years ago by Marianna Rosati.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do. Hello! My name is Marianna and I’m in love with life! My job and my life are melted together. I really enjoy creating images, having visions and making people happy with my creations. I love art and music and I try to transfer the emotions I get from art and music into my fashion world.

What are some recent, upcoming or current projects you are working on? At the moment I’m very focused on evolving my current brands: DROMe and Twisty Parallel Universe. Both of the these brands are pretty new and I’m working hard on making them more and more complete and more and more important in the fashion landscape. DROMe is a project that was born 4 years ago and that represents my love and knowledge in leather, transformed into a very contemporary and glamorous ready to wear collection. Twisty is my “school project”, something I’ve always kept in my secret draw. It is a project that for me represents my personal research in a minimal, ironic and sophisticated silhouette.

How did your interest in art or fashion begin? I’ve always lived amongst clothes! My father has always had a fashion company. I’ve always been attracted by being able to design and create me own wardrobe. Concerning art, I think it is strictly related to any form of work that involves a creative process. And fashion is sure part of it!

If you had to explain your work or brand to a stranger, what would you say? Well I would say: “Don’t you have any DROMe must have pieces in your wardrobe? Too bad! You don’t know what you are missing!” DROMe is a collection of very wearable glamorous pieces, made with the amazing quality of Italian leather and handcrafting. It is a concept that embraces luxury, elegance, and the right touch of glam for a woman to always feel cool.

What materials do you use in your work and what is your process like? The entire DROMe project is based on leather with the exception of some fabrics coming in as details or inserts. I usually start from an ideal image I want to reach. I create a colour palette, and then I start choosing the type of leathers I need to achieve my dream. The biggest part of the process is being able to transfer simple basic leather in something that goes beyond the idea of a classic leather jacket.

What artists or designers are you interested in right now? If I think about my favorite designer of the moment I surely have to mention Acne. I really like the sophisticated minimal woman they always manage to create. When I enter an Acne shop I’d always buy everything! In the art world, installations and interacting performances make me feel something strong at the moment. I feel like I need to see more and more exhibitions where all my senses are involved, where an entire world is created around me, like entering a different planet.

What are your thoughts about the fashion scene in Milan? In my opinion the Italian fashion scene has been relying on the big, very well known brands for a long time without giving anything new to the the fashion world. This situation was beginning to be stalling and dormant. In the last few years, I feel things are changing: there are lots of new emerging Italian designers based in Milan like Fausto Puglisi, MSGM, and DROMe amongst others. This new scene is the beginning of a new era where Italian fashion can be again interesting not only for Europe but for the entire world.

What is your snack of choice when working in your studio?  Well that’s easy I guess: ice cream! I really couldn’t live without it!
